WIEGO Dashboard - Statistics

The WIEGO Network has a core program dedicated to improving measurement of informal employment at the country-level and city-level. From a policy perspective, it is important to distinguish which component of informal employment is larger: self-employment or wage employment; employment within the informal sector (i.e. in unincorporated, unregistered or small enterprises) or employment outside the informal sector (i.e. employment without social protection in households or formal firms) – for women and men. Also, it is important to have data on specific groups of informal workers – such as domestic workers, street vendors, home-based workers and waste pickers – who are often hidden in official statistics. Explore Statistics for key indicators of informal employment at both the country and city-levels.
