Shadow Economy Shows Joblessness Less than Meets U.S. Eye
There are 4.8 unemployed Americans -- 40 percent of all those jobless -- who have been out of work for more than 27 weeks. As umemployment benefits run out, some enter the informal economy, also known as the shadow economy, to make ends meet.
