National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI)

Beginning as a Network in 1998, The National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) was registered in 2003 under the Societies registration Act of 1860. It brings together street vendor organizations under a single platform to collectively struggle for macro-level changes that are crucial for the livelihood of around 10 million vendors who are threatened by outdated laws and changing policies, practices and the attitudes of those in power.

Makola Market Traders' Union

Makola Market, Accra Ghana

The New Makola Market Traders’ Union of Ghana T.U.C represents workers in the renowned Makola Market in central Accra, Ghana.  It was formed in 1999, and was registered in 2002 with the Registrar General Department.  The Union became an official was affiliate of the Ghana T.U.C. 2003, and is also a member of StreetNet Ghana.

Ghana TUC logoThe Trades Union Congress (TUC) of Ghana is the main umbrella organisation for trade union activities in Ghana, made up of seventeen affiliated autonomous national unions. The TUC is the official mouthpiece of unionised labour in its dealing with government and with the employers association. It currently has a total membership of about 500,000 members.

Alliance for Zambian Informal Economy Associations (AZIEA)

The Alliance for Zambian Informal Economy Associations (AZIEA) is the national umbrella organization for associations of informal workers in Zambia. It was launched in October 2002, as the result of a project on organizing in the informal economy undertaken by the Workers’ Education Association of Zambia (WEAZ) and the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU).
 

Street Vendors From NASVI Injured in Delhi Blast - 7 September 2011

Street vendors associated with NASVI had reached Delhi High Court to seek justice from the court at a hearing that was scheduled on the day of the blasts in Delhi. More than ten vendors got injured in the blast, many hospitalized. A young NASVI staff who assists NASVI's advocate in court cases also got injured.
