Welcome to the home of the WIEGO Organization and Representation Database (WORD). The WORD is a dynamic database providing information on organizations which organize workers in the informal economy.

We maintain this database through ongoing research and outreach efforts, but for some organizations the information may be outdated or incomplete. We hope that organizations and individuals concerned with improving the situation of informal workers will help us develop this resource collectively. If you are a membership-based organization (MBO) and would like to be listed on the WORD, please click here to request registration.

To get started just click on the Search button on the menu above to find organizations of informal workers. You can browse through the complete list of organizations or search for a particular organization. You can also select organizations by country, region or occupational group, or a combination of these, and then download to your computer full details of the organizations in your selection.
