Collective Bargaining and Domestic Workers in Uruguay

Through the collective bargaining process, the Sindicato Unico de Trabajadoras Domsticas (SUTD) has been able to win rights including a seniority bonus, additional compensation for night work, full payment of workdays that are suspended by the employer and an additional paid holiday for Domestic Workers' Day.

 

This case study is one in a set of five case studies examining collective bargaining by informal workers.
