In Gujarat, no homes for the construction workers who make everybody’s dream homes

Recently Narendra Modi got a new office for himself and his ministers at the cost of 150 crores and named it ‘Swarnim Sankul’. Question is while Modi uses hundreds of construction workers to build himself a palatial office, what has the Gujarat Government done for the construction workers? Jignesh Mevani from Jan Sangharsh Manch filed an application under R.T.I. and asked the Gujarat Building and Other Constructions Workers Welfare Board to provide figures regarding the number of construction workers to whom houses have been allotted under the housing scheme meant for them. Gujarat Building and Other Constructions Workers Welfare Board had been constituted to implement welfare schemes for construction workers.
