Em 12 de junho de 2015, a Conferência Internacional do Trabalho (CIT) adotou a Recomendação sobre a transição da economia informal para a economia formal, (N.° 204). Essa é a primeira norma internacional do trabalho especificamente dirigida a lidar com a economia informal.
