Street vending in times of COVID-19 (English)

By , on November 01, 2020

COVID-19 has brought unprecedented adverse effects on the lives and livelihoods of informal workers across the world. Natural and weekly markets have had to shut down due to lockdown restrictions in many cities, including in India.

This manual has been designed to help street vendors practice social distancing and take necessary precautions for their own as well their customers’ safety during the pandemic. It is intended for use by individual vendors as well as market associations and organizations working to promote vendors’ rights, to aid further in
the dissemination of this information to the vendors.

This manual has been co-produced by WIEGO Focal City Delhi and Social Design Collaborative. It builds on the Covid-19 Safety Guidelines for Informal Traders by WIEGO and research on post-pandemic public spaces by Social Design Collaborative.

Also available in Hindi.
