With the intent of encouraging debate within society on inclusive recycling, the “Selective Waste Collection” Project promoted the photo exhibit “Waste Pickers, Living Matters in Waste: Portraits of Invisibility” from 2 May to 20 May 2017 at the Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense, in Criciúma, Brazil.

As part of the Urban Policy Programme’s objectives to bridge the dialogue with academia and encourage urban paradigm shifts that recognize the importance of informal workers, WIEGO supported and disseminated the photo exhibit on its social media.
