In a collaboration between WIEGO and SEWA, the “Universal Health Coverage as a Right of Informal Workers in India: Collaborating for Action” roundtable took place on 19th and 20th April 2018, in New Delhi, India.

This roundtable brought together a range of interested stakeholders (WIEGO, SEWA, Oxfam, Jan Swasthya Abhiyan (JSA – the People’s Health Movement), Public Health Foundation of India, Population Foundation of India, and the Postgraduate Medical Institute of Education and Research) from civil society.

The aim was to consider the meaning of UHC for different stakeholders, learning from the UHC experiences of other countries, as well as to determine the possibilities for a civil society alliance on UHC in India.

From WIEGO, Laura Alfers, director of the Social Protection Programme, and Shalini Sinha, Delhi Focal City coordinator participated at the event, and, from Lok Swasthya SEWA Trust, Mirai Chatterjee and Susan Thomas were involved at the organization.
