Organizations of workers in informal employment that are active in WIEGO are invited to become institutional members. Researchers, statisticians and professionals from development agencies who have collaborated with WIEGO are invited to join as individual members. As of 2024, the WIEGO Network has 153 members: 33 institutional members and 120 individual members.

Our five core programmes combine technical expertise on key themes affecting workers, with grounded knowledge of their realities.
WIEGO’s Programmes often collaborate to increase their impact, and draw on expertise from researchers and ground-level activists. Our work is done with, and driven by the needs of workers in informal employment and their organizations.
The Law Programme strives for the recognition, inclusion and protection of all workers’ rights in laws and regulations. We also train workers to use the law in their fight for labour rights and protections.
Law ProgrammeThe Organization and Representation Programme helps organizations of workers in informal employment build organizational and leadership capacity, and connect to each other and with allies as they fight to improve the working conditions of their members.
Organization and Representation ProgrammeThe Social Protection Programme supports workers in informal employment to access social protections throughout their life cycle, helping them to mitigate risks to their incomes and cope after shocks.
Social Protection ProgrammeThe Statistics Programme works with statisticians to improve statistical methods that will make visible the size and significance of the informal economy and the situation of those working in it, and shares the data in accessible formats.
Statistics ProgrammeThe Urban Policies Programme works to improve workers’ incomes and the security of their workplaces and homes, and supports workers in negotiating gains in urban policies and practices.
Urban Policies ProgrammeWe work globally and locally to support the movement of workers in informal employment. In several cities, we take a concentrated approach to support workers’ organizations to secure practical gains.
