From the Executive Summary: "The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd (CIDCO) entrust this study to the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) to understand the employment conditions of wageworkers and self-employed professionals in Navi Mumbai, particularly in the unorganized sector. This study also focuses on employment and type of economic activities and socioeconomic background of the workforce in this region. This Study “Unorganized Sector in Navi Mumbai” has been divided into two phases: The first phase deals with wage workers, namely, Security guards, Construction workers, Brick kiln workers, Quarry workers, Dredging workers, Transport workers, Maid cum cooks, Domestic workers, Rag pickers, Newspaper vendors and Selfemployed hawkers. The second phase deals with self-employed professionals, that is, Lawyers, Tax consultants, IT consultants, Business consultants, Insurance and mutual fund agents, Real estate consultants, Brokers and dealers, Newspaper reporters and Private tutors."
