Informality in Africa: A Review
This paper examines the realities of informal employment in sub-Saharan Africa, where a significant proportion of employment activity and income generation occurs.
Contents include a statistical overview of informal employment in Africa, a consideration of definition and measurement, statistical estimates in selected African countries, an exploration of earnings and poverty issues in the informal economy, and discussion of the causes of informal employment in Africa and economic policy considerations.
