Integrating Waste Pickers into Municipal Solid Waste Management in Pune, India

SWaCH Seva Sahakari Sanstha Maryadit, or SWaCH cooperative is a waste picker cooperative which provides front-end waste management services to Pune City, with support from the Pune Municipal Corporation. This Brief outlines how this partnership developed and operates in Pune, and complements the documentation of cases of waste pickers who have been integrated into municipal waste management systems elsewhere.
