Policy Recommendations, Informal Economy Monitoring Study – Accra’s Street & Market Vendors: Realities & Recommendations
Informal workers are important contributors to the life and the economy of their cities. The Informal Economy Monitoring Study (IEMS) has examined the realities informal workers face, the forces that affect them, and their contributions across the urban economy. In 2012, focus groups were held with 75 vendors in Accra and a survey was administered to 150 vendors (51 men, 99 women). The document shares findings and policy recommendations for street vendors in the city of Accra.
