Street Vendors and the Contestation of Public Space

By , on December 01, 2016

From the book- "This study attempts to capture a time of rapid political and urban change in the city at large, and more specifically in public space in downtown Cairo, between 2011-2015... While this study may contribute to broader research concerning informal economies in Cairo and questions regarding the right to the city, this document focuses on the spatial manifestation of these practices. It offers a systematic documentation and analysis of the question of street vendors in downtown Cairo, and suggests potential design and policy recommendations."
