Women’s Economic Empowerment Through Fair Trade: Case Studies from India and Nepal

This article gives a summary of experiences from India and Nepal from an
action research project on producer organizations of working poor women
and their engagement in Fair Trade markets.  Members of Fair Trade
Forum India and Fair Trade Group Nepal participated in a global project
on Women’s Economic Empowerment coordinated by WIEGO, (Women in Informal
Employment: Globalizing and Organizing), funded by the Dutch Ministry of
Foreign Affairs through its call to action under Millennium Development
Goal 3: Promote Gender Equity and Empower Women.
