Waste pickers play a critical role in managing Delhi’s growing solid waste problem. Despite their immense contributions, waste pickers face many challenges including lack of recognition, spaces of work, and social stigma, harassment and health hazards due to the nature of their work. This publication is a mapping of the locations of waste picker communities sourced from the membership of the Delhi Roundtable on Solid Waste Management and is a non-exhaustive list of such settlements in Delhi, showcasing the various types of work informal waste pickers engage in and contribute towards.
