Bio

Celine Masheleni is researcher, evaluator and development practitioner. She holds an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cape Town, prior to that, she was awarded her Bachelor of Social Science in Law and Sociology (UCT). She has a keen interest in labour and social movements in the Global South, and approaching socio-economic challenges globally through transdisciplinary, evidence-based paths for continued people-centred development and transformation. Celine has worked with various I/NGOs around the African continent, including: Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Her major strengths are in monitoring and evaluation, social science research, facilitation and project coordination. Celine is passionate about social justice and womens empowerment, particularly in the context of informal workers and those at vulnerable intersections. Celine is currently pursuing her doctoral degree, conducting a study of the placemaking activities of African migrants working in the digital economy in South Africa.
