Katia Araujo joined WIEGO in 2019. As Program Advisor, she coordinates the Home-based Workers Organizing for Economic Empowerment and Empowering Home-based Workers initiatives and manages the MLE. Katia is a passionate activist for women’s rights, racial and economic justice with over fifteen years of development experience and commitment to amplify grassroots-led initiatives and voices. Katia holds a master’s degree in international affairs (with a concentration in governance and human rights) from the New School University, NY. Before joining WIEGO, she held senior management positions with Landesa, Huairou Commission and advised the Global Coordinator for the PSEA at the International Rescue Committee. She currently serves on the Board of Advisors for Crossing Point Arts (Bringing the Arts to Survivors of Human Trafficking) and on the Board of Directors of the SLoCaT Foundation (Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport). She was a Ford Foundation’s Public Voice Fellow 2014-2015 at The Op-Ed Project.
