BBC News. China’s biggest art collector began as a 14-year-old maker of handbags, which his mother sold on the street. By finding a way to make the bags cheaper than other street vendors, he outsold them. At the time the average wage was 300 yuan per year, and the people earning 10,000 yuan in Shanghai were all street traders like Liu.
