Accra, Ghana
Leaders of 20 street vendor organisations and 10 waste picker organisations converged on Accra, Ghana for an Administrative Law Workshop coordinated by WIEGO's Law Programme in collaboration with the Organisation and Representation Programme and Accra Focal City.
The workshop which adopted an innovative approach to learning; by taking Administrative Law "to the streets", through a "law school" dedicated to informal workers, attempted to educate informal workers on how various laws, regulations and policies affect them and how administrative law can be used to protect them against abuse of public power and ultimately help in the strengthening of their organisations.
The Law Programme and the ORP held a successful workshop in Johannesburg, South Africa in February 2018. Another workshop will be held with street vendors in Mexico City in the near future.
