Handbook on Using the Mixed Survey for Measuring Informal Employment and the Informal SectorThis Handbook is based on the experience of the the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in implementing a two -part "mixed "survey in three pilot countries—Armenia, Bangladesh, and Indonesia. The "mixed" or 1-2 survey is an inter-connected survey aimed at different statistical populations: individuals in a labor force survey and economic units in an enterprise survey.

The Handbook describes this data production strategy, from survey design to operations and data processing. A chapter on estimating the contribution of the informal sector to gross domestic product is also included. This ADB project was a collaborative effort with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia, the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, and BPS-Statistics Indonesia.
